Giving back to the ocean

Drs. Hosahalli and Ganga PadmeshAfter managing busy careers dedicated to the health and well-being of their patients, Drs. Hosahalli and Ganga Padmesh are now able to enjoy more time visiting the Aquarium. Before retiring, Hosahalli worked as a general surgeon at San Joaquin General Hospital and Ganga as a pediatrician at Elk Grove Pediatrics. In 2019, they became Aquarium members and have been enthusiastic supporters ever since. They feel very strongly about the connection between the health of the ocean and the health of all humans.

“We talk to people about the Aquarium all the time,” Hosahalli shared. “We are so happy and proud that the Aquarium educates people about the ocean’s problems.”

As part of their retirement planning, Hosahalli and Ganga considered how they could make a planned gift that would be most impactful to the Aquarium. After going over options with their advisors, they elected to set up a trust. After several months of preparation—including attending our webinar on planned giving, “Charting the Course”—they recently became two of the newest members of the Aquarium’s Betty White Ocean Legacy Circle, which recognizes those leaving a bequest to benefit the Aquarium’s future.

Hosahalli added, “We receive so much from the ocean and nature—and what are we giving back? The more people learn from the Aquarium, the more they understand. It is important to give back whatever we can.”
