Brad and Martha Atkinson, loyal supporters and Ocean Legacy Circle donors to the Monterey Bay Aquarium since 2007, were deeply inspired with the majestic coastline along California, home to their favorite furry marine mammals, the fascinating sea otter.

Visiting the Aquarium and supporting the Aquarium’s initiatives increased their knowledge of sea otters and the important role they play in our environment When Brad and Martha created their estate plan, they knew the importance of meeting with an estate planning attorney who would help them fulfill their wishes and maximize their giving after their lifetime. Brad states “having an estate planning attorney really helped provide tax savings in so many ways while taking care of the Aquarium.”

Brad and Martha encourage others to put together their estate plans immediately. “Talking about it with family and friends doesn’t get it done and they may not understand instructions to be fulfilled.” They also encourage others to consider including the Aquarium in their estate plans because they care about the ocean’s future. In their words, “we want people’s children and grandchildren to enjoy what the ocean provides us. We have to protect it.”
