Encouraging others to make gifts from retirement funds

Don and Dorothy ReinkeDon and Dorothy Reinke have made a generous gift to the Monterey Bay Aquarium through their retirement funds—and they encourage others to join them.

Loyal supporters of the Aquarium since we opened in 1984, Don and Dorothy both enjoyed careers with Hewlett-Packard. Don held many roles at HP, including medical field engineer, quality assurance manager, and marketing and communications director for circuit boards. Dorothy specialized in training administrative assistants to use computers when the shift from typewriters was new. She is passionate about education from her years teaching math to junior high students.

Both Don and Dorothy say they are especially grateful for having been a part of the early years of Silicon Valley. Their work with HP allowed both to enjoy career advancement, travel opportunities, and even childcare for their children. In Don’s words, “HP gave more than I could have ever hoped for.” The gift from Don and Dorothy will provide lasting support for the Aquarium’s mission to inspire conservation of the ocean. We’re deeply grateful to Don and Dorothy, and to all our Ocean Legacy Circle donors who are making a lasting contribution to our work.
